Repertoire
Participants will perform the following repertoire.
Stage 1
- G. Fauré – Une Châtelaine en sa Tour… op. 110
- Choose one:
- S. Prokofiev – Prelude op. 12 no. 7
- N. Paganini/M. Magistretti – La Caccia
- M. de Falla/M. Grandjany – Spanish Dance no. 1 from “La Vida Breve”
Stage 2 (max. 30 minutes)
- A work, or one or more movements of a work, from the baroque or classical period, Urtext (e.g. J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, L. Spohr)
- Choose two of the following Lieder by R. Schumann:
- Die Tochter Jephtas op. 95 no. 1, in C minor
- An den Mond op. 95 no. 2, in G minor
- Dem Helden op. 95 no. 3, in B flat major
- Provenzalisches Lied op. 139 no. 4, in B flat major
- A work, written between 1 January 1901 and 1 December 2009 by a non-harpist composer.
- A specially commissioned Dutch composition by H. Alkema (5’)
Final
- A. Ginastera – Concerto for Harp op. 25
- A free choice solo piece (max 10’) to be announced on stage by the competitor him- or herself
Please note: all works are to be performed from memory except the Lieder and the commissioned work.
The competition will provide a singer for the Lieder, participants however, are allowed to bring a singer of their own choice to the competition (on their own expense, no lodging will be provided).
The piece by H. Alkema will be sent after December 15, 2009 to all accepted candidates of the Competition.
The Concerto for harp and orchestra by A. Ginastera will be performed with the Utrecht Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.
