The festival part of the International Harp Competition & Festival, The Netherlands, will take place from the 23rd till the 27th of March.

In many established competitions, there is very limited attention for concerts and master classes; in this the International Harp Competition & Festival of the Netherlands will distinguish itself. Even though a lot of harpists will be on stage during the festival, its focus is on music, with concerts and master classes featuring many different instruments.

These events are scheduled around the three main composers that are played during the competition, one from each stage: Gabriel Fauré (first stage), Robert Schumann (second stage) and Alberto Ginastera (final stage).

Fauré and his students, contemporaries, and the composers that he inspired will be the focal point on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, the spotlight is turned to Schumann, while on Friday the transition to the music of Ginastera and his contemporaries will be gradually made. Additionally, there will also be side steps to baroque and jazz music.

All competitors who do not progress to the second or final stage will have an informative and exciting week nonetheless, because they can attend a masterclass by one of the jury members, and have the opportunity to go to numerous other interesting events organized by the festival. As many students are expected to participate, a party will conclude the event.
